II. Technical Process Analysis: Why Choose “AO+MBR”?

 

This advanced combined process offers high efficiency, stability, and compact footprint, making it particularly suitable for projects with stringent land use and effluent quality requirements.

 

AO (Biological Treatment Core):

 

A Stage (Anaerobic Stage): Primarily functions for phosphorus removal and partial organic hydrolysis/acidification. Polyphosphate bacteria release phosphorus under anaerobic conditions, creating conditions for subsequent excessive phosphorus uptake in the aerobic stage.

 

O Stage (Aerobic Stage):

Note: Standard AO processes achieve incomplete denitrification. To achieve Class I A standards, more complex A²O (anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic) processes or creating an anoxic zone within the MBR tank after AO are typically required for denitrification. Your equipment may incorporate design optimizations, such as alternating or partitioned anoxic/aerobic zones within the O stage or membrane tank, to ensure total nitrogen compliance.

 

MBR (Membrane Bioreactor):

 

Core Function: Completely replaces conventional secondary clarifiers using flat-sheet microfiltration/ultrafiltration membrane modules (typically with pore sizes below 0.1 microns).
